Celebrating its coming of age as a street theatre company, here we can show you a video that summarizes how Chariots Of Fire was born when in 1994 the company was founded by Miguel Angel Martin. A company which today continues to grow with its productions that are seen all around the World.

Miguel Ángel Martín, founder and artistic director of the company, has over a career spanning more than 20 years directed many urban street theatre projects. Since 1994 his productions have been seen in many different cities all over the world representing Spain in many different street festivals. An example of this was when we took part in the 10th anniversary of the ‘Festival Mawazine’, the most important festival in Magreb, celebrated in Rabat.

The amazing welcome and acceptance shown to Chariots Of Fire and their different productions has meant that the company has toured with their shows all over Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Holland, Romania, Morrocco, China and Chile where the company was part of the creation, design and artistic direction of the famous ‘Paris Parade’. A parade which is seen by over 600.000 people, plus over more than 130.000 households that watch the event live on TVN television. Now Paris Parade has become the largest and most important Christmas parade in all of latin-america and is held in the capital Santiago de Chile.

COMPANY HISTORY

Chariots Of Fire is a company founded by Miguel Ángel Martín Bordera, son of a renowned ‘fallero’ artist in Alicante. From the beginning, the company has evolved away from tradition and created a new concept in urban street theatre creating its own unique signature by the use of giant mobile marionettes. In their productions Chariots Of Fire try to emmerse the spectator in a fantastical world of magic whilst trying to convert any urban space in an event that will give a unique experience to the public through amazing light effects, image and sound and where the giant mobile marionettes play a significant role and add to the disciplines of different artistics. Since 1994 Chariots Of Fire have amazed millions of people all over the world with productions in Niza, Arles, Saint Raphaël, Clamart – Paris, Chambery, Obernai (FRANCE), Doetinchem (HOLLAND), Pavía (ITALY), Bucarest, Sibiu (ROMANIA), Villa Barquina (PORTUGAL), Rabat (MORROCC), Shanghai, Sheng Yang, Qingdao (CHINA) Santiago de Chile (CHILE). Also covering most of Spain in cities such as Madrid, Valencia, Cádiz, Bilbao, Vitoria, Salamanca, Burgos, León, Guadalajara, Jaén, Jerez, Huesca, Segovia, A Coruña, Pontevedra…to name but a few.

In 2012 Chariots Of Fire began their tour around China, adapting to the country under the banner trademark name Xibanya. The first shows were held in Shanghái, one of the most important capital cities in the world, continuing through other Asian cities such as Shen Yang and Qingdao.

The ‘Iberoamerican Theatre Festival of Cadiz’ ( Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro de Cádiz) in its XXVII edition took place in October 2012 with participants from 14 different countries; Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, México, Nicaragua, Portugal, Uruguay, Venezuela and Spain. In this edition Chariots Of Fire took part in the professional forums and talked about the theatrical and contemporary Latin american artistic scene as well as drama and new languages used within performances of today. Also, Chariots Of Fire were the chosen company to close the festival with their production of ‘Natural Spirit’. In this edition over 31 companies offered over 32 different shows; 9 being street theatre, 3 of dance and the rest indoor theatre performances.
